Join Us for an Out-of-this-World Afternoon with Dr. Aileen Yingst!
NASA’s Dr. R. Aileen Yingst, a leading American geologist and senior scientist at the Planetary Science Institute, will preview an upcoming space mission to Saturn’s moon, Titan, and her involvement in the trail-blazing project. In a place famous for its vast dragonfly population, we’re thrilled to host Dr. Yingst, a key investigator on NASA’s Dragonfly Mission to Saturn’s Titan moon, launching in 2028. Much like the many dragonflies that grace Maine’s skies, NASA’s Dragonfly spacecraft will fly from site to carefully chosen site, observing the surface of Titan with many “eyes.” Dr. Yingst, whose experience exploring other worlds includes the Mars rovers Curiosity and Perseverance missions, will discuss her role in NASA’s upcoming mission to Titan, taking attendees on a journey of discovery and a chance to learn about one of the most ambitious planetary exploration efforts to date. ?? What You’ll Learn: How NASA’s Dragonfly Mission will explore Saturn’s moon Titan, and what they hope it will find Dr. Yingst’s role in advancing planetary science and discoveries about life on Earth How planetary rock, mineral, soil and atmosphere samples advance our understanding of the cosmos. Get the kids involved with out take-home Saturn Explorer’s kit! How past discoveries about potential life on Mars made by the Perseverance Rover continue to drive space exploration Whether you’re captivated by Maine’s dragonflies or fascinated by space exploration, this talk will connect the dots between the natural world and the cosmos in an unforgettable way.
